Hunter Valley Weddings
The Hunter Valley Lodge & Retreat is a beautifully maintained property and is perfect as a rustic events venue. With three accommodation houses, a large barn, a huge deck, a charming gazebo and five acres of lawns and gardens, the Lodge provides endless possibilities for your event or celebration.
Booked on an exclusive basis and offering complete privacy and seclusion, the Hunter Valley Lodge & Retreat has been designed and equipped with everything you could possibly need to guarantee a perfect stay. There are two fully appointed houses, the ‘Lodge’ and the ‘Retreat’, plus a small private studio, the ‘Lion’s Den’ for the romantic couple. We also have a large barn known as the ‘Bison Den’ which can accommodate all types of events and celebrations.
The Hunter Valley Lodge & Retreat is a lavishly rustic and luxurious space where large groups of family, friends or colleagues can enjoy their time together, or perhaps find some quiet time alone in the privacy of a spacious bedroom, verandah or alcove to relax with a favourite book and drink. The styling is playful and based on a Canadian lodge or chalet with vintage paraphernalia, hunting relics coupled with modern pieces, and tartan blankets thrown on comfortable leather sofas. A large fireplace located in the heart of the Lodge throws natural light onto the wooden cathedral ceilings and creates a warm and cosy atmosphere. The property has 2 semi-commercial kitchens and a massive dining table which is perfect for friendly feasts, gourmet banquets or a personalised degustation. Lastly, the huge entertaining deck is perfect for watching the best sunset views in the Hunter Valley.
The Hunter Valley Lodge & Retreat has 10 large bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you include the ‘Lion’s Den’ Studio (which is booked separately), this total increases to 11 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. The whole property can accommodate between 16 to 33 guests in total, or 28 guests in individual beds.
The Hunter Valley Lodge & Retreat is located down a country lane adjacent to the Werakata National Park and is in the centre of the Hunter Valley wine region.

If your celebration event does not exceed 30 guests in total (staying or day guests at the property), you are welcome to make your own arrangements. However you will need to obtain a quote from us for guest accommodation. In addition, you will be required to pay a $35 per person venue fee for any guests attending your event that are not booked to stay at the property. Please note that the maximum number of guests for a self-managed event must not exceed 30 guests.
If the numbers for your event exceeds 30 guests (staying or day guests), you are required to use our event management service. They are responsible for managing many aspects of weddings and events at our properties. Their services include catering, marquees, decorations, transfers, port-a-loos, generators, security, portable cool room hire, guest transfers, garbage removal and excess cleaning. Final event approval is at the discretion of the owner of the property.
In both cases, it is essential that you are completely transparent prior to our approval so please be clear about:
- The date, time and duration of the event
- Potential maximum number of people you plan to have at the event
- To make any alterations or decorate the house, or to move any furniture items
- Any outside services or equipment you would like to have at the property
- The intended hours of the celebrations and music arrangements
Terms and Conditions
All accommodation terms and conditions are applicable to the booking including a refundable bond of $2000 and guest registration. All events must conclude by 10:30pm with all guests not staying at the property to leave the premises by 11:00pm. Guests must be 25 years of age or over to make an accommodation booking.
Events and celebrations include:
- Weddings or anniversaries
- Birthdays and reunions
- Christmas parties
Please note that we do not accept any bookings for bucks’ parties or end-of-school celebrations.
As our exclusive events manager, Hunter Concierge will be responsible for the complete coordination of your event. Marquees are available in a variety of sizes, styles and designs, as well as furniture and lighting options. All items are subject to quotes and suitability based on your guest numbers and location.
Subject to guest numbers and the type of event, you will be required to have a supervisor or security present. This will be charged at an hourly rate depending on the requirements of the event.
The Hunter Valley Lodge and Retreat has no parking facilities for large groups. However, Hunter Concierge can provide transfers (ranging from private cars right through to coaches) between the event and your accommodation.
Catering and Drink Packages
Hunter Concierge is the perfect catering choice for your event. From a casual buffet or BBQs through to an elegant cocktail party or a formal sit down extravaganza, Hunter Concierge will cater to your taste and style. Drink packages are also available with BYO options.
Hunter Concierge provides a number of styling packages suitable to each property and event brief. They have a wide selection of marquees and stylists available for your dream event.
You will be required to brief Hunter Concierge in writing of all particulars of the event including beverages, entertainment, technical requirements, room setups, and starting and finishing times (no later than 10:30pm).
These details are required at least six weeks prior to your event. Guaranteed and final attendance numbers must be provided to Hunter Valley Lodge twenty-one days prior to your event. Any reduction in attendance numbers within twenty-one days prior to your event will be subject to charge at the full contracted amount.
Our venues are private houses therefore all guests are required to observe house rules, trespass, noise and music restrictions, and general behaviour, particularly at night. Anyone in your event creating any nuisance behaviour may be asked to leave the premises immediately and will be liable for any damages caused. Should your event be outside of our terms and conditions, we reserve the right to end the event and all guests are required to leave.
Where goods or services are supplied from an external supplier, additional terms and conditions may apply such as additional deposits and insurances.
Hunter Concierge acts as an agent for external suppliers such as catering, transport, photography and videography, decorators, cake supplier and others, therefore the suppliers hold all responsibility for their services.
A magical property for our magical weekend
My brand new husband and I could not find any other property across NSW that was such a perfect fit to have our families stay with us for a long weekend away, to join us in saying “I do”. The team at the Lodge and Hunter Concierge were so accommodating and helped us have the most memorable wedding day and weekend of our dreams! We were all blown away by the entire property, the rooms, the space, the variety of activities and all the detail and features that just made the place an absolute stand-out. The brand new decking was gorgeous, perfect for a sunset meal. Highly recommended!
